How to use Infernal Iron in Baldur's Gate 3
Infernal Iron has one significant purpose in Baldur's Gate 3, and that is to complete the Hellion's Heart companion quest for Karlach. Karlach has something called an Infernal Engine where her heart should be, a gift from her demon overlord. The engine is unstable, and Karlach needs to do something about it in order to survive.
Once you add Karlach to your companions, she will tell you about the engine, and that she needs an Infernal Mechanic to help her. To find one, head to the Emerald Grove. In the Tiefling camp, you will find Dammon the blacksmith. Speak to him about Karlach to learn that she needs Infernal Iron to stabilize her new heart.
You need two pieces of Infernal Iron to complete the quest, which Dammon can install to ease the burning sensation. It is worth noting that you can also find Infernal Metal or Infernal Alloy, and both are also usable here.
For the first upgrade, you should head to Dammon in Emerald Grove before completing the quest to save the grove, or destroy it. If you have already completed the main story quest here, Dammon will leave for Baldur's Gate. If you destroy the grove, you will never be able to complete this quest.
After you give him the first piece, find him again at the Last Light Inn in Act 2 to have the second piece of Infernal Iron installed.
