Baldur's Gate 3 crafting: Alchemy, weapons & armour

Baldur's Gate 3 is a massive RPG, and you rarely see such a game that doesn't allow the player to gather raw materials and use them to craft an abundance of useful items.
Crafting in this game comes in multiple forms, largely divided into alchemy and forging. So, here is everything you need to know to get started with Baldur's Gate 3 crafting.

Baldur's Gate 3 crafting: Elixirs, potions, grenades & coatings
Alchemy is the art of crafting elixirs, potions, grenades and coatings. These items can be crafted in a cauldron, such as the Cauldron of Boiling Theriac at the Druids Grove. While we know that many different concoctions can be crafted in a cauldron, currently there is only one elixir that can be made.
If you visit the Cauldron of Boiling Theriac in the Druids Grove and toss a Mugwort Bundle into it, you can make the Elixir of Silvanus. This elixir cures poison, which is very handy to have. When the full game launches, many more elixirs will be available to craft, as well as potions, grenades and coatings.

Baldur's Gate 3 crafting: Weapons and armour
Similar to alchemy, the amount of crafting you can do with regard to weapons and armour is rather limited. That said, you can make an awful lot more weapons and armour than just one. There are two methods for crafting arms in the current version of the game, with likely many more to come in the full game.
The first is the Melting Furnace in the Blighted Village. To use the furnace, you need to gather some Sussur Tree Bark. You can only get one piece of the bark, and you will have to travel to the Underdark in order to get it. Once you do, you can combine it with a dagger, greatsword, or sickle to make a Sussur weapon. Each weapon will Silence your enemies each time they are hit for one turn.
The second method of crafting is to use Mithril at the Adamantine Forge. There are only two sources of Mithril currently in the game, so your choices are limited to just two pieces of gear. This is a bit annoying, as the items you can craft with Mithril include:
- Adamantine Longsword
- Adamantine Scimitar
- Adamantine Mace
- Adamantine Shield
- Adamantine Scale Mail
- Adamantine Splint Armour
Each of these items has the same effect, which is to cause Reeling to your enemies. An enemy that has been afflicted with Reeling will get a -1 penalty to attack rolls for every future turn. Additionally, the effect stacks, meaning you can repeatedly inflict Reeling until your enemy has literally no chance of landing an attack.
Undoubtedly there will be more items to craft in the full game, and more ways to do so, but for now these are just the glimpses we have gotten at how crafting works in Baldur's Gate 3.
