FAQs

Whether you're curious about the voice actors in the game or want to know how big the total download size is, we've got all that covered and much more in our Frequently Asked Questions section.

Co-op split-screen

The game will feature a co-op split-screen for up to two players, but only on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. This was confirmed on the official Reddit

Activision has said that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will not be supported to retain performance integrity on those platforms. It didn’t clarify if this mode will exist on PC.

We’re also not sure which of the gameplay modes this pertains to. The split-screen co-op mode will likely be available for Zombies, as that is a staple mode of play for the series. It’s also likely that multiplayer will be playable in this way.

The campaign of Black Ops 6 will be single-player only, so that won’t support any split-screen play.

Crossplay and cross-progression

Like most of the Call of Duty games before it, the game will support crossplay and cross-progression across all platforms. If you play on PlayStation 5, you can play against or with those playing on Xbox Series X|S or PC, for example. An icon will be displayed in the lobby to denote whether a player is using a mouse and keyboard or a controller.

Likewise, if you own Black Ops 6 on multiple platforms, you can take your progress with you across each one. As long as you’re logged into the same Activision account on each platform, you’ll see your progression unlocks carry over each time you swap between them.

Download size

We don’t know the exact download size of Black Ops 6 just yet, but we do know that it won’t be as large as players initially thought.

The pre-order page for the game initially reported that the download size would be somewhere in the region of 300 GB. However, Activision has since clarified that figure to include MW2, MW3, Warzone, BO6, and other relevant content packs.

In reality, the install size of this year’s Call of Duty will likely be much closer to the 100GB mark, if we use the last few games as a benchmark. I’ll update this guide when we have an actual figure.

Steam Deck

Black Ops 6 currently isn’t verified to run on Steam Deck, and it’s unlikely that it will ever run natively on the platform without installing another operating system. The Call of Duty games feature a kernel-level anti-cheat system that prevents Linux-based hardware from accessing the game at all.

While this is to limit the number of cheaters in the game, it ultimately means that you aren’t able to play Call of Duty on Steam Deck right out of the box. The only way to play Black Ops 6 on a portable device will be to install a version of Windows to your device and play the game that way, but this comes with its own set of performance and compatibility problems.

Ultimately, I don’t recommend trying to play this game on Steam Deck.
