Grab your castanets and prepare to do the Flamenco with the Spanish-themed Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It seems like only yesterday we booted up Feudal Sinnoh for Pokemon Legends: Arceus... and that's because it was. Giving us the shortest lifespan of any Pokemon game, Arceus is being shunted to one site for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokemon Day 2022 gave us the surprise drop of Scarlet and Violet, which will finally take the long-running catch 'em all series into the realms of being fully open-world. Alongside the first look at this (currently unnamed) land, we got a glimpse at the Gen 9 starters, as Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly making their debut.
Where Can You Pre-Order Pokemon Scarlet And Violet?
Just days after Game Freak broke the internet and once again proved 2022 will be a massive year for the Nintendo Switch, pre-orders have already gone live for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Sites including Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon are listing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for sale in the USA.
The Best Buy blog simply says "coming soon". A wild Amazon.com link appeared and has mysteriously vanished just as quickly. While up, it listed the games at $59.99, but remember Amazon's pre-order price guarantee means it could drop. Unfortunately, no one seems to know the difference between the two games yet, meaning you're going purely off which colour you prefer.
It's worth noting there's also no mention of pre-order bonuses. As well as Game Freak usually including its own bonuses like an Arceus' in-game mask, retailers are known to offer their own exclusives. For the time being, it doesn't look like anyone is offering a pre-order bonus, so we'd hold off for now.
When Will Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Release?
The first announcement didn't reveal exactly when the games will release, however, we're promised they're coming in 2022. If we were betting people, we'd guess toward the end of the year for a possible Christmas release. This would give enough time for the dust on Arceus to settle, but to be honest, most of us have already forgotten it even exists.
There comes a problem in releasing Scarlet and Violet toward the end of the year though. This is where most people have pegged the long-awaited The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, which some think could be the only big contender to rival Elden Ring for Game of the Year. With Nintendo clearly pulling out the big guns this year, we'd better start saving those Pokecoins.
