The Cleaners faction in XDefiant isn't doing its job, as there is a rampant arachnid infestation. The Dedsec Spiderbot has been causing mayhem since players began to unlock the hefty 75,000 XP Faction, even forcing them into wishing for an arachnophobia mode.

Season 1 has "nerfed" the eight-legged contraption, but players are quickly feeling the bite of the black widow as it is "even worse."

XDefiant's Spiderbot issue isn't going away

The Spiderbot was nerfed in Season 1, as Ubisoft has revealed that the Dedsec ability has now nearly doubled its cooldown.

The nerfs have seen the Spiderbot's cooldown extended from 25 seconds to 40, and players have become immune to multiple spider attacks in one life - reducing the spam.

But these changes have also come at the expense of the only viable counteraction, as the "bug" that allowed for the arachnid to be shot off the floor has now been patched. It means you can no longer destroy it with bullets before it attacks you.

Now, the only way to destroy the Spiderbot before it eats your face is through an EMP, which, given the close-quarter combat, normally comes at the cost of your own abilities.

XDefiant's Spiderbot is 'worse' after nerf

Taking to Reddit, players have erupted over these changes, claiming the "nerfs" have only made the Spiderbot problem "worse." "It's such an insanely unskilled passive that leads to a guaranteed kill nearly every time. The rework doesn't actually matter when there are 3+ spider bots on the map," one Redditor said.

Another added, "The devs heard how much everyone hated it so they made it even more annoying! Yay! They're really listening to us <3 ty Mark Rubin." Between Spiderbots and unskilled Sniper nerfs, XDefiant's Season 1 update hasn't gone down as well as Ubisoft might have hoped.
