With XDefiant comfortably enjoying its preseason launch, players have been getting quite hands-on with the respawn game modes that fester chaos and breed entertainment.

But Ubisoft does have plans to take XDefiant forward and into deeper territory, possibly even breaking into an esports scene, and with that comes the need for some improvements.

Improvements such as a tactical Search and Destroy mode, made for competitive play? Improvements such as a killcam? Hm, these seem like easy checkpoints to tick off, eh, Mr. Mark Rubin?

Search and Destroy mode set to arrive in XDefiant

Rubin has been a vocal and transparent leader of XDefiant. He often plays the punch bag when delays occur but gets his flowers when XDefiant finally launches.

He won't be resting on his laurels, though. The "preseason" period will soon move towards the start of a live-service model with Season 1, and there are big plans for the game.

First, there is Search and Destroy, the timeless game mode that has populated Call of Duty for decades and is the core principle of Counter-Strike and VALORANT. As Rubin revealed on Twitter, he wants this staple mode to come to XDefiant, too.

When asked about the round-based game mode, Rubin simply confirmed "Yes!" in a tweet, although that didn't give much inclination as to when it would arrive.

XDefiant dev puts a stop to Killcam petition with good news

In addition to Search and Destroy being one of the first post-launch additions, Rubin also reassured fans that Killcams will be added in the near future, after one fan started a 'petition' on Twitter to get the post-death clips.

"You don't need a petition (laugh emoji). It's something we are working on," Rubin said.

Season 1 isn't expected for at least another six weeks though, where these new features could bolster a line up already featuring a Faction called Ruby and three new maps and weapons.
