Xbox fans are having a field day right now. Though the dragging of the company's Activision Blizzard deal has been deeply frustrating to behold, players haven't forgotten why they back the company - keeping up their gaming habits. Things are getting better day by day, and now, there's another win for gamers.

A huge series of Xbox 360 games are getting more love from internet servers. as a wealth of classic Call of Duty titles like Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 become available to play once again. It's drawn players away from the latest titles in favour of the simple and nostalgic gameplay of yesteryear.

But it's not just Call of Duty getting some much-needed TLC, with classic Gears of War games getting their time to shine for the first time in decades.

Gears of War returns to player priorities

The improvement of classic servers has done the Xbox 360 back catalogue a world of good, and while many are taking to Black Ops, some are going back to other franchises - Gears of War included.

As pointed out by Pure Xbox, the original Gears of War game has enjoyed revitalised online capabilities and actually has available lobbies. This is letting players enter the multiplayer suite for the first time in some time, and they're leaping at the chance.

Jumping into the first Gears of War game now reveals that players have raced back, with healthily populated lobbies for others to join. It's given a shot of life to the game itself, which it hasn't enjoyed since launch.

It's not just the first Gears of War coming back

If that wasn't good enough for fans, there are also reports that its 360-era sequels, Gears of War 2 and 3, are also experiencing some refreshed interest. This is pretty big news, as it indicates that the series isn't as dead in the water as fans thought it was.

Gears 5's success was followed by a pretty dramatic drought, with many believing that its appearance on Game Pass led to a shorter half-life of interest. Regardless, this is great news, especially for those who grew up blasting the locust horde as Marcus Fenix. Nostalgia warriors, your time to mobilise is now.
