MW4 SEASON 1 WARZONE TOUT

If you're still dropping into Warzone on a PS4 or Xbox One, you've got until this Friday. Call of Duty's battle royale stops working on last-gen consoles when Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 lands on Friday, November 6.

The good news is you don't lose everything. Your progress and most of what you've bought carries over if you move to a newer console or PC, but there's one catch with COD Points that's worth knowing before you switch.

When does Warzone stop working on PS4 and Xbox One?

Activision has confirmed Warzone will no longer be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from the start of Modern Warfare 4 Season 1, which is scheduled for November 6, 2026. That's the same update that brings MW4 content into Warzone for everyone else.

No exact start time has been announced yet, so treat Thursday, November 5 as your last full day of play to be safe.

This is the final step of a wind-down that started months ago:

  • June 4: Warzone was removed from the PS4 and Xbox One stores, so it couldn't be downloaded fresh.
  • June 25: the in-game store was switched off on both consoles.
  • MW4 Season 1 (November 6): Warzone stops being playable on PS4 and Xbox One.

Will my Warzone progress carry over?

Yes. According to Activision's support page, your full progression and anything you bought with COD Points carries over to any supported platform, as long as you sign in with the same linked Activision account. That covers PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

What happens to my unspent COD Points?

This is the catch. Unspent COD Points (bought or earned through the Battle Pass) are tied to your platform account, not your Activision account. They'll only move to the current-gen console in the same family:

  • PS4 points can be used on PS5
  • Xbox One points can be used on Xbox Series X|S

If you're jumping from PlayStation to Xbox, or to PC, those leftover points won't follow you. The same goes for most content you bought with real money through the console store, which stays with that console family.

Can I still play other Call of Duty games on PS4 and Xbox One?

Yes. Activision says this change only affects Warzone. Every other Call of Duty game that came out on PS4 and Xbox One stays playable.

Why is this happening?

Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, with no last-gen version. With Season 1, Warzone moves onto MW4's foundations and shares its seasonal progression, so the PS4 and Xbox One versions are being retired rather than left behind on an old build.

It's the end of a long run. Warzone launched on PS4 and Xbox One back in March 2020, so plenty of players have been on the same console for the whole of its life.
