Warzone Mobile has been quite the hit, and although there might have been a lull since its original launch hype, it looks like the Call of Duty developers are standing firmly behind the handheld battle royale.
After already implementing a controversial multiplayer feature that cut away from CoD Mobile, sparking an internal war, it now looks like Warzone Mobile is eating away at more of the franchise's limbs.
Ahead of the integration for Black Ops Gulf War later this year, leaks are claiming that Warzone Mobile will be getting some Treyarch treatment and a new Zombies mode will be added.
Warzone Mobile leaks suggest a Zombies mode is coming
According to popular Call of Duty leaker "Crashfty", who previously aired CDL skins and other Operators before release, Warzone Mobile is getting a Zombies mode.
The leaker suggests that this will come into play with the release of Black Ops Gulf War in 2024, and will be a part of the wider integration of Treyarch's game to the Call of Duty model and Warzone.
It's not yet sure whether this will be round-based or another project, such as the leaked Outbreak 2.0, but it will likely serve as a way for players to unlock weapon camos on the go and continue levelling up guns away from the consoles.
How will Black Ops Gulf War integrate with the entire Call of Duty series?
This year, Modern Warfare 3 saw skins and Operators carry over from MW2, allowing for a seamless transition between titles, which scarcely impacted Warzone and served as the perfect starting point for Warzone Mobile to be introduced on, given the cross-platform progression.
However, with Black Ops Gulf War integration on the horizon, it is quite apparent that no Modern Warfare content will be carried forward on the multiplayer front, starting from scratch.
For Warzone, built on the Modern Warfare engine, it might continue to harbour both sub-series content just as it did in years gone by when Cold War and Vanguard came out.
These new leaks do suggest that Gulf War will have a large impact on the BR, and other leaks indicate a new (and even remarkably familiar) map will come as the weapons will take over floor loot too.
Call of Duty did once have a Zombies mobile game, although it was plagued with problems and was rather hard without any of the modern-day add-ons - hopefully Warzone Mobile will be better.
