One of the most interesting aspects of Warzone is obviously the weapons and the different characteristics that each of them brings to gunfights.
Testing out guns, experimenting with builds, and beaming down enemies is core to the Battle Royale gameplay loop. Despite this, you're sometimes forced to use your fists and melee an enemy to death.
This can be due to running out of ammo, or if you've snuck up behind a foe and are looking for a silent takedown. You'd expect punching an enemy for an elimination to take at least three to four hits, but at the moment, that's not the case.
A new Warzone bug appears to be allowing competitors to KO enemies in the blink of an eye, effectively giving you the chance to one-shot opponents with your fists.
Warzone players are insta-killing enemies with a single punch
Taking to the CoDWarzone subreddit, user _hungry_ decided to post a clip of an enemy one-shotting them with a single melee attack. According to the death recap, this one punch did 300 damage flat, which is more than any bullet or explosive in the entire Warzone arsenal.
It's safe to say this interaction is not intended and is a bug, but that doesn't stop it from being immensely frustrating. Any deaths that feel blatantly unfair or like there's no counterplay will spark a reaction from the community, as Warzone is a competitive game at its heart.
Countless fans took to the comments to reveal that it had happened to them recently, calling on the devs to address these "trash" issues.
"I was absolutely raving about the melee nerf in WZ2 so I cannot stand that we've gone back to this absolute joke of a melee system again," said one user, with another claiming, "The melee has that one special hit that's been broken for months but of course, I've never had it happen when I melee."
What causes this one-shot melee bug in Warzone?
Keep in mind, these are all theories as we've had no confirmation from the devs as to why melee hits will randomly insta-kill opponents.
However, some fans believe it's because "the fourth or fifth hit that's the elbow" is meant to "auto down someone." As a result, sometimes players begin with this elbow attack, which will instantly kill anyone who is punched.
Others believe it is related to going prone while using your fists, but we'll have to wait for a response from the devs before we'll know for sure.
Either way, with melee doing more damage than guns at the moment, it's probably best to laser down opponents before they can get too close.
