Call of Duty is renowned for its military theme, but in recent years, the franchise has drifted away from the typical Mil-Sim aesthetic. This couldn't have been clearer with Season 4 Reloaded, which introduced The Boys Operators and even the ability to use superpowers.

Excluding Ranked, these special abilities were available in all of Warzone 2's Battle Royale modes, which didn't go down well with a lot of the community. Well, the devs have finally removed the superpowers from standard matches and placed them in their own playlist.

Warzone 2 superpowers restricted to their own Playlist

After backlash from a portion of the Warzone 2 community, the devs have removed superpowers - otherwise known as the Temp V Field Upgrade - from standard BR matches.

Instead, the abilities are now restricted to their own Playlist called "Supe'd up Resurgence," where players can still take down foes with deadly laser beam eyes.

This has been met with widespread praise from the community, with one user claiming, "This is the way...let the super jumping, laser-eyed, teleporting shockers run rampant in their own dedicated playlist & leave regular resurgence alone."

Another player agreed, arguing, "It should've been like that since the beginning," adding that it's good the change has finally been implemented.

When will superpowers be completely removed from WZ2?

Homelander Warzone 2

The devs made it clear from the start of Season 4 Reloaded that the superpowers in Warzone 2 were only going to be temporary. Call it Temp V. Much like the many Fortnite collaborations, expect the perks of superpowers to be a limited-time addition to the battle royale title.

As superpowers related to Starlight and co. aren't a permanent addition, and are only related to The Boys crossover, it's likely that they will be completely removed when Season 5 launches. For some of you, that can't come soon enough.
