Ubisoft has a lot of intellectual properties to play with.

Naturally, the company has made a name for itself bolstering gaming franchises to become industry staples - Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, Far Cry, Just Dance - they're popular for a reason. The company has more than proved themselves, which is probably why they're trusted with massive third-party IPs.

Avatar and Star Wars especially are set for big things in the hands of Ubisoft, with Frontiers of Pandora set to bring the worlds of one of the best-selling movies of all time to life once again, and with Star Wars being, well, Star Wars, the upcoming untitled game could yet be the best game that the franchise has seen yet.

But they have to get made first - and it looks like the games' development could be cast into doubt after the exit of a senior member of staff.

Ubisoft Massive's Managing Director Has Quit

Ubisoft's Avatar And Star Wars Games Could Be In Trouble

A lot of fans are expecting that the production of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the untitled upcoming Star Wars game could be thrown into trouble, as the managing director of Ubisoft Massive, the division working on these games, has officially left the company.

The director, David Polfeldt, had gone on Sabbatical last year to a new role, but it has now been confirmed by an interview, seen in the Hitpoints newsletter, that he won't be returning to Ubisoft Massive.

The team are known for working on The Division, and are set to work on the new Avatar and Star Wars games.

How Will This Affect Avatar And Star Wars?

Fans are beginning to worry that this surprise departure will affect the release windows of the Avatar and Star Wars games as the team adjust to a loss of a key member of staff. While this could end up being the case, there's still a chance the development of the games will be fine.

With Ubisoft being such a huge company, it's likely they have some kind of plan ready for an occurrence like this, and the games should remain on track until completion.

The upcoming games have a lot riding on them, especially as Avatar and Star Wars are such huge intellectual properties. Who knows how this will affect production - but we're hoping that it's nothing to worry about.
