Fans of The Witcher TV show can expect lots of upcoming content as Series 5 of the Netflix series is already entering development.

Season 4 of The Witcher has already entered the early phases of pre-production with production set to start in the Spring.

The Witcher Season 5 is already in the works

According to Redanian Intelligence, Season 5 of The Witcher Netflix show has already begun development, despite the fourth season still being in production.

In 2022, prior to the 2023 writers strikes, Netflix made the decision to produce Season 4 and Season 5 of The Witcher back-to-back.

This means that when the WGA strikes started in May, Season 4 was almost fully written and there was already an outline of Season 5’s key plot points ready to be built upon.

Based on the amount of time it typically takes for a Season of the show to be filmed, and the short break for cast and crew which will be included between filming each one, it is likely that Season 5 will begin filming in early 2025.

While we won’t be seeing Season 5 especially soon, it is definitely not a bad idea for the team to start working on it as soon as possible, and it will hopefully help reduce the wait time.

Some new actors are making an appearance in Season 4

It was recently confirmed that The Witcher Season 4 would have some new faces appearing alongside familiar ones.

Henry Cavill hung up his hat as Geralt of Rivia at the end of the last season, handing the role over to Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games).

Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix Trilogy) will also be appearing in Season 4 as he takes on the role of Regis, a barber-surgeon with a mysterious past.

Some fans of the show are excited to see Fishburne take on the role, writing: "It is brilliant, and Lawrence adds a huge amount of credibility to the lineup. His years of experience and artistry in the entertainment industry is a shining star."

Others think that he is in the wrong role, with some stating: "Okay he is a good Actor but he's NOT Regis, but oh well, they do what they want anyways."

Fans of The Witcher are being spoiled with new content in the upcoming months, with a new game entering pre-production and a comic series following on from The Witcher 3 being released in May.

A new Witcher book from Andrzej Sapkowski set for release this winter and an anime called The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep which will be releasing at a similar time are also in the works.
