You had one job, literally. We understand that revamping what's widely regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time isn't exactly an easy task, but boy, Naughty Dog really dropped a clanger with its The Last of Us Part 1 PC port.
Although the 2013 survival horror was quickly re-released on the PS4 for The Last of Us Remastered in 2014, we're now a whole generation ahead of that. The argument that it was overdue a remake clearly had dollar signs ringing in the developer's eyes. If only the team hadn't cut corners.
You have to laugh at The Last of Us Part 1 glitches
Although we know we shouldn't laugh, you have to see the funny side of The Last of Us Part 1 launching as a buggy and sometimes hilarious mess on PC. Scathing Steam reviews aside, the Twitterverse and Reddit threads are alive with some amazing glitches.
Alongside a neon Joel (above), our favourite is Bill's rave. Even though video game Bill's story isn't as developed as Nick Offerman's live-action version from HBO's series, we doubt the surly survivor would be throwing a neon rave. Bill's rave glitch is so wild, you can't even see Joel in the shot.
Similar to the GTA Trilogy port or the latest Pokemon games landing as unfinished monstrosities, players have managed to find the funny in all this rage. We've already covered "Steam Deck Joel" and his problem with shaders, but he isn't the only character hit with a downgrade.
Both Ellie and Sarah have had similar graphical problems, looking like someone has drawn them using a crude marker pen. The latest is a lighting issue that makes Joel look like he's doing an uncomfortable blackface.
Make the most of your The Last of Us glitches
There were already those who had their reservations because developer Iron Galaxy delivered the underwhelming Batman: Arkham Knight and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PC. However, this neon nightmare is nearly over, with both Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy vowing to spruce up the apocalypse.
Critics have questioned whether Naughty Dog knew this was coming and it's why review codes weren't provided before launch. If you're unimpressed with Part 1's PC port, be warned that a blog post celebrating the game's release said things will be kept in-house for future PC releases.
At least we're already at work getting the game playing like it should, with patch notes for The Last of Us Part 1 v1.0.1.5 being posted on the Naughty Dog feedback site earlier today. This hotfix is tackling some of the biggest issues head-on. If you haven't bought Part 1 on PC yet, maybe just wait a little longer.
