What is it about Pedro Pascal playing dishy father figures? When it's not caring for Grogu in The Mandalorian, it's helping Ellie navigate the fungal apocalypse in HBO's The Last of Us

The first episode of Craig Mazin's live-action adaptation is now out in the wild, with Pascal and fellow Game of Thrones alumni Bella Ramsey playing Joel and Ellie. Although some are still unconvinced by The Last of Us' casting, others are practically salivating over "daddy" Joel.

What Are Fans Saying About The Last Of Us?

Thirsting over this father figure, one fan wrote, "Pedro Pascal as Joel is so Daddy. If you’re on the fence WATCH The Last of Us," while another added, "WTF, man I wanna have Pedro Pascal as my daddy too."

A third joked, "Me watching everyone on my tl get on the daddy Joel bandwagon." Someone summed up everyone's thoughts and concluded, "Pedro Pascal does so well at dad roles he wants me to mother his kids so bad like just slide into my dms babe we can get married TODAY."

The first episode was a faithful adaptation of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us from 2013 but expanded on the source material. We got more of a backstory for the Miller family, with Dumbo's Nico Parker playing Joel's daughter, Sarah.

There was plenty of tragedy in the premiere, but as we settle into The Last of Us, expect to see much more of Pascal stepping up as dad (and daddy) Joel.

How Many Seasons Of The Last Of Us Will There Be?

Although The Last of Us is yet to be commissioned for season two, we can't imagine it not getting renewed. Before the series even came out, some dubbed it the greatest video game adaptation of all time.

We originally thought a potential season two would round off the first game, but by the sounds of it, that'll be finished in season one's nine-episode run.

Hopefully, this won't be a two-and-done series, with Game Director Neil Druckmann teasing the potential of at least a third season. We should have daddy Joel around for a bit longer, well, probably until someone asks for a round of golf (if you know, you know).

Beyond that, it's anyone's guess. Mazin and Druckmann have reiterated they don't want The Last of Us to be one of those things that are dragged out beyond its expiry date, but with whispers of a mythical The Last of Us Part III, there could soon be another game to adapt.
