You just know that whenever Rockstar Games finally announces the next Grand Theft Auto, it'll probably be some random Tuesday, and we'll all be in bed. After all, that's how the gaming giant finally confirmed GTA 6 was in the works. Still, that doesn't stop us from speculating about when the big day will be.
The mystery about the GTA 6 launch is one that even the most die-hard fans have grown tired of, with Reddit and 4chan threads packed full of leaks and rumours that verge on the believable to the outlandish. Now, someone claims to have got their hands on the GTA 6 trailer.
GTA 6 trailer supposedly leaked online
Considering we've missed the seemingly perfect announcement window of GTA V's 10-year anniversary, it's anyone's guess when we'll get an update on where things are up. However, fans on Reddit are going wild over a potential GTA 6 trailer leak. As the OG source is 4chan, we're already a little sceptical.
If the trailer "leak" is to be believed, a GTA 6 trailer will drop on October 26. This lines up with previous whispers that Rockstar is planning something before the month is out. The OP claims the trailer will be 90 seconds long and include shots like a Ferris wheel, sky diving, and a high-thrills police chase.
Many are unconvinced, saying that if you throw enough ideas out there, at least one of them is bound to be right. After all, word of protagonists Jason and Lucia, a return to Vice City, and alligators (don't ask us why) have all been long-established rumours.
There are plenty of naysayers, with one saying, "Didn’t get to sit and analyse the trailer for an immensely anticipated game but had the time to make a shitty post. Fake af." Another added, "Fake or not, this is peak 4chan and Reddit. This kind of stuff is what I made a reddit account for back in 2015 haha."
Someone concluded, "They've listed 21 separate "things", and say it's 90 seconds long. That's about four seconds per "thing", not counting anything not listed. Rockstar trailers are not just a grab bag of stuff, there will be some very basic story/reveal in there that tells you something about the characters."
GTA 6 fans hopeful for October 2023 reveal
There's been a recent uptick in rumours that Rockstar has a surprise GTA 6 reveal on the cards for October 2023. We're halfway through the month at the time of writing, and while we've been burned too many times before, that doesn't mean we should write off an all-star showcase in the next few weeks.
Also on the GTA Reddit, someone noted how Rockstar has been dropping all its Halloween updates over a short space of time instead of spreading them out over a couple of weeks. This has set tongues wagging that it's getting them out of the way to focus on the GTA 6 reveal.
Remembering there have been financial reports pointing to a potential 2024 release window, an October reveal would be as good as any to keep things on track. GTA 6 is sure to break the internet when we finally get a trailer, but in the meantime, it's back to wrapping our heads in tin foil and delving back into theories.
