Bethesda looks set to reach for the stars once again, with new trademarks hinting at the future of Starfield. The sci-fi explorer is supposed to tide the studio until the eventual release of The Elder Scrolls 6, presumably delivering a healthy roadmap of expansions to keep fans fed.

We know at least one Starfield DLC is on the way, with Shattered Space coming in "Fall 2024." As Skyrim rolled out its three expansions of Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn in just over a year, it was always expected that Starfield would have more than one DLC.

Starfield's 'Starborn' DLC hinted at in trademarks

Spotted by X user @Tumur222, Bethesda has filed a trademark for something called Starborn. Those who've played Starfield will know the Starborn are a mysterious group who pass through a portal called The Unity and have traversed universes.

As the Starborn only appear to Constellation after you've collected enough Artifacts in the base game, they're one of Starfield's biggest mysteries. With the Starborn having unique spacesuits and piloting their advanced Guardian ships, their advanced technology could make for an interesting addition to a Starfield DLC.

Bethesda's Todd Howard confirmed at least one more expansion after Shattered Space, so it looks like we're on the money with Starborn. Howard has previously suggested he wanted to release Starfield expansions on an annual basis, and if there's more to this leak, Starborn could logically be coming at some point in 2025.

Shattered Space will hone in on the House Va'ruun cult, and continuing the theme of different factions, the Starborn make perfect sense for their own expansions. Given the Starborn's potential to cross universes, a DLC focusing on them and their potential origin has the potential to cross the cosmos with a supersized adventure.

Starfield still sits at a "mixed" rating on Steam, and with player numbers continuing to tumble, many are looking ahead to Shattered Space as a much-needed lifeline. Hoping Starfield's first DLC can breathe life back into the game, its potential success will hopefully lead into Starborn or whatever the next expansion is called.
