Starfield Is Besthesda's Chattiest Game Ever

Skyrim is full of classic one-liners that are cherished by the Bethesda gaming community. However, thanks to Starfield, even more could be on the way.

Bethesda is continuing to ramp up the hype over Starfield. It may be "the beginning of humanity's final journey" but, according to Bethesda's head honcho, Todd Howard, it certainly won't be a quiet one.

Director Howard has revealed that Starfield will have three times more dialogue than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Given the plethora of Skyrim quotes that have won the hearts of Elder Scrolls fans out there this is certainly no easy task.

What Did Todd Howard Have To Say About Starfield's Hefty Dialogue?

In a brief appearance during the Xbox live stream at the 2021 Tokyo Game Show, Todd Howard announced that the upcoming sci-fi role-playing game will have 150,000 lines of dialogue, that's three times as much as Skyrim. Just to compare with the other dialogue-heavy games out there, Cyberpunk 2077 has nearly 100,000 lines, whereas Bethesda's other big game, Fallout 4, comes in at a whopping 110,000.

Howard then went on to say that, similarly to Arkane Studios’ Redfall, Starfield will be getting a complete Japanese localisation - featuring 300 voice-over actors. The director added that the ambitious feature will be Bethesda's "largest translation effort ever."

It may seem like a hefty amount of dialogue, but given how Starfield will be Bethesda's first new universe in 25 years, it's no surprise that a lot of lines will be needed to help guide players through the game and give plenty of context to its expansive universe.

What Do We Know So Far About Starfield?

Starfield will have a whole load of original planets and worlds

Bethesda gave fans a small glimpse of Starfield in the game's teaser trailer following its big reveal during Bethesda's E3 Press Conference in 2018. Since then, the Starfield Twitter page has allowed fans a peek at three of the in-game locations. Bethesda has also shared with fans that Starfield will be "Skyrim in space". Now, that's a Cloud District we really wish we could blast Nazeem off to.

Starfield is scheduled for release on November 11, 2022. However, Bethesda was forced to apologise after it was revealed that Starfield will be an Xbox exclusive and won't be available to play for PS5.

It may be that in space no one can hear you scream, but according to Todd Howard, that certainly won't stop Starfield's characters from having a quick natter with the player.

Tamriel is home to a whole collection of weird and wonderful characters who love to chat with the Dragonborn, so it's great that Starfield players will get to have many more wordy experiences as they travel through the stars.
