It's been some time since we've had any news about Starfield, and it's worried some fans. The new game by Bethesda has been regarded as the next big thing by Xbox, and with its developers insisting that it's the biggest project they've ever worked on, fan hype has been high for some time now.
Xbox has needed an exclusive like this for some time, and players are hoping that it's as good as it's implied to be. It certainly could be - but sadly, we're going to have to wait a little longer for it than we had hoped.
Starfield is delayed until September 2023
In another huge delay to one of Xbox's key exclusives, it has been revealed that Starfield won't be coming early this year as planned.
It has been officially announced by a new trailer for the game that is designed purely to let players know its release date - and it's slated for September 6 2023.
"We have poured ourselves into this game, and even I'm surprised how much we can pour. It is large," says Todd Howard at the end of the short cinematic. "Thank you all for all your excitement about the game, your support, your comments, we really do read it all. We know you've waited a long time to play something new from us - believe it or not, we're kinda the same. We miss it, and we really just can't wait for you all to play it."
Starfield is getting a Direct conference
It has also been revealed that the game will be receiving a Starfield Direct presentation on June 11, hopefully shedding some more light on why the game has been pushed back once again.
Who knows what the team intends to reveal at this showcase, but Todd Howard indicates that there is a lot left for players to learn about the game. It might be a way off at this stage, but we're hoping that another delay means that it'll be perfect. It had better be damn perfect for all the waiting we've done.
