With Star Wars' latest revelations in the gaming world, a new Jedi Academy is being formed within the community, all looking for their next adventure and training following Jedi: Survivor's completion.

But it seems like not all aspiring 'saber-holders are pleased, as its now come to light that one of the most highly-anticipated DLCs in the franchise has now been cancelled.

Following on from its extremely choppy release on Nintendo Switch, developers Aspyr has now confirmed that the much-needed Restoration DLC for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - The Sith Lords has been cancelled, and the faithful troopers have been left with faces redder than Darth Maul.

Star Wars KOTOR 2 DLC Cancelled

The KOTOR series is a beloved section of the Star Wars universe in gaming, with the original game being the highest-rated title in the franchise's history, and one of the greatest games of all time on Metacritic.

But amid woes that the KOTOR Remake is dead, it now seems that KOTOR - The Sith Lords is facing a similarly sticky end, and no matter how much Aspyr try to bend the force with bug fixes and patches, the Restoration DLC has been slashed with a Sith's red swing.

Taking to social media, Aspyr has now announced that the DLC's development has been discontinued, leaving KOTOR 2 players with a completely broken game.

"Sadly, today we are announcing that the Restoration Content DLC for the Nintendo Switch version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords will not be moving forward for release," they said in a statement on Twitter.

As compensation though, Aspyr is now offering impacted players the chance to claim a free game that they have worked on, with the following all being made available to claim:

  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords (PC)
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Switch)
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Switch)
  • Star Wars: Republic Commando (Switch)
  • Star Wars: Episode I Racer (Switch)
  • Star Wars: Jedi Knight Academy (Switch)
  • Star Wars: Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast (Switch)

Star Wars fans are fuming following the crucial KOTOR 2 DLC cancellation

With the announcement, Star Wars fans have rallied like the Empire to slam the regime and expressed their utmost frustration that the "promised" DLC will never arrive.

"That's completely unacceptable," said one fan on Twitter. "Many people (including myself) bought this game with the assurance the DLC would be reconstituted and eventually restored for the game. That was the whole point of buying it again. Otherwise, I'd just stick to my OG Xbox copy."

Other fans have also begun demanding refunds, despite the offer for free game keys, with one aggrieved customer, in particular, saying, "Customers bought this product because they were told it was coming to the game, and not delivering on it is false advertising.

"Offering free games to those who bought them rather than giving REFUNDS for the product that's directly affected, and I'm sure opens up some legal issues."

Aspyr now faces quite the uphill battle to keep Star Wars fans happy, as the KOTOR Remake is in peril, and the current KOTOR 2 Switch port will forever have glitches that make the game physically impossible to complete.
