Hooray, it sounds like you'll be able to gather your own Clone Army in Quantic Dream's Star Wars Eclipse - well not quite, given the time period. Still, new details about the AAA Star Wars game have come to light, suggesting that there will be a multiplayer aspect of the ambitious title.
Over the years, we've had some great (and not-so-great) multiplayer Star Wars games. While the likes of the OG Battlefront 2 and Star Wars: The Old Republic have a special place in our multiplayer hearts, others beloved entries like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order have been missing multiplayer capabilities.
Will Star Wars Eclipse Include Multiplayer?
The latest leaks claim that Star Wars Eclipse will be an open-world epic that will have multiplayer attached. While the main Quantic Dream team in Paris will be tackling the single-player elements like "cinematic, story, level art", a different department is heading up multiplayer.
This news comes courtesy of AccountNGT, which claims the Quantic Dream Quebec team is overseeing multiplayer. There are no further details on what this will involve, but with our first look showing off a relatively unexplored period known as the High Republic, we can only imagine where multiplayer will take us.
From what we've seen so far, familiar locales like Naboo and fan-favourite species like the Mon Calarmari will all have a part to play. With promises we'll be exploring the Outer Rim hundreds of years before we meet Luke and Leia, the possibilities are endless when it comes to expanding Star Wars lore.
What Else Do We Know About Star Wars Eclipse?
The account has a tonne of Eclipse updates, including the fact it's being described as a mix between The Last of Us and Fallen Order. Hopefully, the multiplayer won't go the way of The Last of Us Part II's MIA Factions multiplayer.
There's apparently a non-linear story that's still being written, meaning those previous worries Eclipse is still years away looks incredibly likely. Alongside Respawn's Fallen Order 2, Eclipse could be one to watch. We know not everyone thinks Quantic Dream is the right studio for the job, but with the potential to be one of the biggest games to grace the galaxy far, far away, it'll at least be interesting to swing lightsabers with your pals.
