Slenderman arrives in Fortnite in time for Halloween

A new creative mode map has revealed that when Slenderman appears in Fortnite, he's just as terrifying as he's always been.

Spooky season is peeking around the corner, and the gaming world is very ready for it. Many of the titles that dominate the industry have a history of coming through with a banger of an event every time Halloween rocks up, with Fortnite being no stranger to it.

Sinister skins already dominate the game, and the season welcomes them with open arms - though we're not sure players were ready to take on the Slenderman himself.

Slenderman comes to Fortnite...with a catch

A new Fortnite Creative Mode map has been added, bringing to life the frightening phenomenon of Slender: The Eight Pages in a darkened new world for Epic Games' masterwork. The map has been shared on Twitter by Jake Lucky, who has shown off an incredibly faithful recreation of the grim spooks of the original game.

It's been rebuilt lovingly in Fortnite's Creative Mode, following in the footsteps of a recent Hunger Games homage. Players must gather pages around the game's map, all while being stalked by the horrible, lanky beast born of Creepypastas from the Internet's dawn. It would be great fun if it weren't so horrifying.

The map is a marker of just how amazing creators can be with the tools afforded to them by Epic Games, and it becomes clearer with more maps like these that the company's hopes for the game to be a larger ecosystem make perfect sense.

What do we know about Fortnitemares 2023?

It's a shame that Slenderman isn't part of Fortnite's Fortnitemares 2023, but then again, he doesn't exactly fit with the game's usually family-friendly aesthetic.

Nothing is confirmed for the imminent launch of Fortnitemares, but so far, we've seen a few teases that we're getting new NPCs, augments, items, and even the return of the Horde Rush mode. There are already leaks of Swamp Fishstick, Molton Love Ranger and Shadow Meowscles, but the rest is a mystery.

Call of Duty is going hard with everything from an Evil Dead to a Spawn crossover, and even though Fortnite can't be as adult, we're expecting some famous frights. There's plenty to look forward to, though we'll hope that Slenderman-ised Jonesy isn't a part of it, else we won't bring ourselves to drop.
