With battle royale games going out on a whim, all shooter attention has turned towards Tactical FPS' again, as Counter-Strike sets the tone for a title that can stand the test of time.

With Rainbox Six flourishing again, VALORANT having found its footing as the most creative game in the genre and now on console too, game developers have realised that the fruits of this labour are sweet and have lined up a sting of rivals to enter the market.

One of which is Spectre Divide, a newly-announced 3v3 game from Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek that boasts a huge twist.

Spectre Divide's 'unreal' and 'unique' Duality concept praised by fans

From Mountaintop Studios, including developers who have worked on VALORANT and CS alongside the creative input of Shroud, Spectre Divide has been revealed to the public as a tactical shooter that focuses on a brand-new mechanic named Duality. Duality warps this 3v3 game to a 6v6 title in the blink of an eye.

Confused? Well, it appears to be a stroke of genius, as fans are already applauding the "unreal" concept. In layman's terms, Spectre Divide starts as teams of three, but each player will control two characters. The starting character will have a puck to throw, which will spawn a second character on demand.

This means you can place a marker for one, sweep the area, switch back and plant the bomb, and then hold two angles to defend. It sounds confusing, but it's arguably the most creative tactical shooter we've seen yet.

After being revealed, fans have applauded the ingenuity, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to lay down compliments such as "Game looks unreal," and "Genuinely unique concept. Looks interesting."

Another fan said, "Insane concept, can’t imagine all the possible ways to win a round. I’m about to be my own best teammate. So hyped for this."

Shroud has recently showcased how creative some upcoming Tactical FPS' are, having excelled in the bullet-bouncing FragPunk, and will be hopeful his design can make the same impact the VALORANT has.

Spectre Divide will be having a closed Beta in mid-August, where players can get a first taste of this fast-paced game of chess,
