Rockstar Games must have learned their lesson by now.
The utterly monstrous GTA VI leak that came earlier this year was truly devastating for the company, as details from the game much too early in development flooded the internet courtesy of a teenager in the UK and showed fans far more than Rockstar was ready to disclose.
So it makes perfect sense that it'd now hold its cards as close to its chest as it can manage - but rumours indicate it's playing it too safe.
Rockstar accused of giving staff false info
Twitter reporter of video game user Budz has indicated that the expected release date of GTA VI is so all over the place because Rockstar has been dishing out false information to its staff.
This accusation has been made under the presumption that Rockstar is clamping incredibly hard on leaks after its huge leak this year, and it indicates that the company is truly doing all that it can to keep things squeaky clean.
It's a pretty hefty accusation, but it wouldn't be too surprising when it comes to the company's efforts to keep its cards close to its chest.
Leak suggests a GTA VI trailer is coming this Winter
According to the same series of tweets from Budz, the leak that we saw was very early in development - from before the date the leak dropped - and it's so far into development that a reveal trailer will be ready around November or December, just in time for The Game Awards.
It's a bold statement for sure, and only time will tell if it will come to life - but it's no shock either way that Rockstar is being so quiet. We would be too if we'd had our pants pulled down like that.
