Alongside the newest Fortnite season, three new game modes are being released to help the former battle royale expand its offering.
Rocket Racing is the second game mode to be added and, thanks to the Rocket League development team, Psyonix, the newest Fortnite game closely resembles the popular racer.
While this is good news for Fortnite players, some Rocket League fans are nervous about what Rocket Racing could mean for the future of Rocket League.
Psyonix has issued a statement about Rocket League vs Rocket Racing
After fans of Rocket League expressed concern about the future of the racing game given their new venture with Fortnite, Psyonix released a Twitter statement assuring them that this was not the end of Rocket League.
It wrote: “Hey all - let's talk about the game we love, Rocket League.
“The same team that has been supporting Rocket League is still cranking on updates coming to Rocket League in 2024, both the core game and RLCS. It's a bit too early to share details, but expect more news on that in the new year.
“Rocket Racing is not replacing Rocket League, and we’re excited to grow these games side-by-side with cross-game vehicle ownership between them.”
Players have responded positively to Psyonix’s statement
The response to Psyonix’s statement about Rocket League has been largely positive, with players thanking the developer for their simple and human communication.
“Please keep giving us these simple, easy update tweets that feel like they're written by a human!
“They may not feel like much but just any crumb of communication is so greatly appreciated,” one player wrote. “Looking forward to seeing what's to come, and to all future tweets like these.”
Another said: “More of this! Simple communication tweets where you can just be real with us (don't even have to reveal things) and let us know that you see what we are saying.
“We love the absolute shit out of this game and just want to see it blow up even more!”
The statement doesn’t reveal much about what is yet to come in 2024, so we will have to wait and see how Rocket League and Rocket Racing continue to grow alongside one another in the future.
