Since Caldera came to Warzone and ultimately flopped, Call of Duty players have been flocking to the smaller Rebirth Island - which offers a much more frantic pace we've found solace with. Rebirth Island has become quite the haven for Warzone players, but it now appears that the small map is on its way out, as Raven Software officially unveils Fortune's Keep.
Having revealed that Fortune's Keep is coming to Warzone (expectedly in the Season 4 update), the battle royale will be getting another small map tailored to a helter-skelter resurgence game mode. However, this could mean the end of Rebirth Island.
Despite undergoing some topsy-turvy surgery in recent months by flipping the layout of the Alcatraz-based landscape on its head, Rebirth Island is now set to be replaced, and fans aren't happy.
Will Fortune's Keep Replace Rebirth Island?
While the prospect of a new map is quite exciting, Rebirth Island's popularity has soared in recent weeks, following Caldera's collapse. Now, with the prison's own sentence coming to an end, the jury has come to a unanimous verdict and doomed Warzone to the death penalty should Rebirth Island be axed.
Having seen the Fortune's Keep map be revealed, fans on Reddit have now claimed that it "literally will kill the game if they remove it [Rebirth Island]." "Rebirth is like the only thing keeping this game afloat right now. I hope they know what they’re doing," another added.
Can Warzone Juggle Rebirth Island And Fortune's Keep?
As to whether capital punishment is needed for Warzone, Rebirth Island’s revamped design is probably past its peak, and the small-scaled map has been in rotation for almost two years.
However, Raven Software will have to make sure that it doesn't make the same mistakes as it did with Caldera and Verdansk, as we all know how that turned out. Already, Fortune's Keep does seem to have a Caldera-ish feel to it, given a slight snippet of the layout and colour palette showcased on the overhead map design.
Fortune's Keep will be bigger than Rebirth Island though, possibly meaning more squads could land on the map, therefore, maintaining the pace that makes Rebirth Island so special.
The most damning aspect of Fortune's Keep will be its speed, as anything slower than Rebirth Island will make fans feel like they're playing the hated Caldera, and therefore putting a final nail in Warzone's coffin. Whether you'll be pressing F to pay respects or fragging out in a brilliant map, that will only be decided on the Fortune's Keep release date.
