Remember Anthem? That multi-million dollar title backed by the colossal EA which was in development for eight years and subsequently fell off the face of the earth after a swift few months?
Well, apparently, it's still going. Maybe those flat earthers were right all along, and Anthem couldn't fall off the globe's face, but rather just tumbled into a dark cavern, waiting to be rediscovered.
And it looks like there are quite a few gamers crawling through these dungeons looking for buried treasure, and Anthem is being pulled up time after time again.
More players are rediscovering Anthem, three years after support ended
Support for Anthem ceased in 2021, two years after its full release, having gone down as one of the biggest blunders in gaming history, given its extensive development time and huge budget.
But people are still taking to the official Subreddit page every day to say that this artefact is definitely worth its weight in gold - and by gold, we mean the measly $1 price tag.
One new Reddit thread has echoed many others in recent times, titled "What happened?"
"Saw it for a couple of dollars about a month ago so I bought it," the post read. "Finally started to play it today and am in love with this game but it seems like a dead game. What happened to it?"
Anthem players are fed up with newcomers
Sometimes though, the best things in life are best left alone, and those few remaining Anthem players are actually getting pretty cheesed off when newcomers come in wondering why there aren't more loyal customers.
The Reddit replies insinuated an abundance of gamers come dropping into the forum to ask "what happened" nearly every day, and they all find the same sticky fate: "[Anthem] is super fun and great, but there is no end game and no future."
Unfortunately for Anthem, despite its reworks, it faces the same doom as the likes of Hyperscape and Crucible, and this buried treasure appears to want to stay buried forever.
