Remedy Entertainment has been pretty busy with Alan Wake 2, but that doesn't mean the wider world of its stories hasn't had some attention behind the scenes. The exploration of the Federal Bureau of Control is yet to come to a close, with a spin-off being in the works for some time and a full sequel on the way at some point.

The sequel will presumably come after Remedy has nailed down its remakes of the first Max Payne games, but either way, we're not ready to lose Control just yet. It looks like that spin-off could be coming sooner than expected, as a new IP has just been filed and points towards a brand-new adventure in the halls of the Oldest House.

Remedy has trademarked what could be its Control spin-off

A moment of combat in Control.

It has been pointed out on the EU's Intellectual Property Office website that Remedy Entertainment has applied for the trademark for a new project - titled FBC: Firebreak. It's thought that this will be the title of the multiplayer spin-off of Control, with "FBC" being short for Federal Bureau of Control.

The spin-off is expected to follow a collection of security workers in The Oldest House, so the title makes sense. The trademark is for computer gaming software, clothing, multimedia production, esports competitions and more, so it seems that the team is going all-in on bringing the project to life.

It's an exciting notion and indicates that our return to the world of Control could be coming sooner than initially thought. But, there's another theory.

Is FBC: Firebreak Alan Wake 2 DLC?

Some have theorised that FBC: Firebreak could actually be a DLC for the recently released Alan Wake 2, drawing parallels between its titling and the AWE DLC for Control, which starred Alan Wake as a pretty big part of the content's story.

It's a fair theory, and with so many different mediums covered by the trademark, there's truly no telling what Remedy is planning.  Either way, something is coming - and we'll take any opportunity to return to the Oldest House.
