Sony has hit pause on its Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, delaying them indefinitely less than a week before they were due to launch for £199.99 in the UK on November 12.
The news came in a short update to PlayStation's official blog post for the speakers on November 6, where Sony said that during ongoing quality testing it had "identified a production issue with the product" and decided to delay the launch, without giving a new date.
Turning the volume down on launch day
Sony says the extra time will let it make sure the speakers deliver the experience it intended for players, and it apologised for the delay while saying it looks forward to bringing them out soon. As Push Square points out, this is the second PlayStation accessory to be held back days before release this year, after the FlexStrike fight stick was delayed indefinitely back in July.
The update doesn't say what happens to pre-orders, which opened on September 1 through PlayStation Direct and other retailers, so if you've got one in, it's worth keeping an eye on your order status or checking with the shop you bought from, and we'll update this if Sony shares more.
What are the Pulse Elevate speakers?
First revealed in September 2025, they're Sony's first wireless desktop speakers, built with planar magnetic drivers and built-in woofers, and they connect to PS5, PC, Mac and PlayStation Portal using the same PlayStation Link wireless tech as Sony's Pulse headsets and earbuds. They also support Tempest 3D Audio in PS5 games that offer it, have a microphone with AI noise rejection, and come with charging docks and a rechargeable battery so you can carry them away from your desk.
It's been a quiet few days for good news from PlayStation, which has also cancelled its Ratchet & Clank mobile game, though PS Plus members did at least pick up a batch of new UK perks this week.
Well, at least your current speakers have one more Christmas left in them.
