Despite something of a fanbase dropoff a few years ago, Pokemon GO has been going strong since. Even though it would serve as a death knell for others, Niantic has held fast and provided an incredibly rewarding experience for long-time Pokemon fans and new ones alike.
The ongoing updates bringing new regions and Pokemon to the title have been great news for players, and even though Niantic has had its fair share of controversies with rising costs of in-game currency, it hasn't done much to deter fans from getting involved in each new event.
Now, Pokemon GO's loveliest update yet is set to bring yet another shiny Pokemon to your neighbourhood. It's all part of the game's Valentine's Day update - set to spread a little love in 2024.
Pokemon GO unveils its 2024 Valentine's event
The Carnival of Love is officially coming to Pokemon GO, and it's bringing plenty of new content to the game for players to enjoy. Opening up the box of chocolates, it's got some features that fans may not have expected.
There's a brand-new chance for you to change the trim of your Furfrou, giving players the opportunity to give their dog Pokemon the Heart Trim for a little added cosmetic flair, which they can do with 25 Furfrou Candy and 10,000 Stardust.
Along with the expected Valentine's appearances of Luvdisc, Snubbull and Skitty, the game now gives you the chance to catch a Shiny Oricorio for the first time, with the Baile style appearing in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Pom-Pom style in the Americas, Pa'u style in African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands, and the Sensu style version in the Asia-Pacific region.
Along with this, you'll be able to purchase a charming new Luvdisc Tambourine Pose in the in-game shop during the event.
When does Pokemon GO's Valentine's Day event start?
If you're ready to dive into the loved-up new event, then there's good news - you've got just enough time to save up your Pokeballs.
The event kicks off on the day before Valentine's Day, February 13, and concludes only a couple of days after on February 15. That's not long to pick up the Pokemon you want, so you're going to be working overtime if you want that Shiny Oricorio. Cupid has drawn back his Pokebow, so make the most of it.
