With Ash Ketchum feeling like just a distant memory, the long-running Pokemon anime isn't wasting any time moving forward with new protagonists, villains, and new 'mon. Now, Pokemon Horizons: The Series is adding another familiar face to the roster.

2022 saw the release of Scarlet & Violet, which brought Gen 9 into our lives and the arrival of the 1000th Pokemon. Not bad for a franchise that's still finding relevance after 27 years. As the anime catches up, a Scarlet & Violet fan-favourite is also making the leap into the anime.

Pokemon Horizons is embracing its Gen 9 crossovers

A new teaser for Pokemon Horizons confirmed that Levincia City Gym's Iono is coming. Following the release of Episode 12 in Japan on June 23, we got an extended trailer for what's next. Her arrival is something of a big deal, and we'll definitely be tuning in for the next "Iono Zone" stream.

As Ilona is known as something of a social media whizz, most think the anime is setting her up as Dot's rival. The purple-haired member of the Rising Volt Tacklers was revealed as the streamer Nidothing, meaning Horizons would miss an opportunity if they don't have her sharing stats with Iono.

While some find Iono just another annoying addition to the franchise, there's a lot of love for the supercharged streamer. One fan cheered, "Iono looks great in the anime's art style. Can't wait to see more," while another added, "Yes, the Queen is coming." A third grumbled, "Simps gonna go crazy for this one."

Is Pokemon Horizons coming to Netflix?

Iono Pokemon Horizons

Horizons has been rattling through its episode count in Japan, but for other territories, fans are left twiddling their thumbs. The English dub of Horizons is coming to Netflix, but it's just a matter of when. Netflix is notoriously behind the curve, with the dub of Ash's final episode only just airing.

There's no news on when Pokemon Horizons will hit Netflix, but looking at previous releases, the streaming service is usually about nine months behind. Realistically, it means we might not be able to sit down and enjoy the dub in 2023. Good luck avoiding all those spoilers until then.
