A few weeks on from the cultural blast that was the arrival of Palworld, the game might have lost a few players, but there’s no denying that it’s still crushing it.
Even after the novelty of Pokemon with guns has worn off, players are realising that the features in the game are ones they’ve wanted in the series that Palworld is on for many years, and they’re relishing in the chance to bring those childhood hopes to life.
There’s one problem, though, and that’s the cheaters that have made their home in Palworld. We reported recently that the game’s team Pocket Pair had implemented a non-descript means of stopping cheating in the game, but it looks like it hasn’t finished the job. Luckily, though, it looks like that could still be on the horizon.
Palworld is trying to stop its cheaters, but doesn’t know when it will
Pocket Pair has taken to Steam to offer players an update on their plans to keep Palworld airtight from cheaters - and it looks like the company isn’t there yet.
"Currently, some users are unable to connect to official servers due to cheating and the influence of fraudulent activities. We have confirmed that some players are unable to play the game properly," the team states in a new Steam post. "As a company, we do not tolerate any fraudulent activity or cheating, and we are working on measures to deal with it strictly and as a priority."
The team goes on to reveal their plan for the future; "First of all, we plan to release a player list function for servers in an update at the end of February. Through this, we will strengthen the identification of players who engage in cheating and the suspension of their use by the development team.” The company also promises additional “thorough measures” to clamp down on cheaters.
Anti-cheat will remain optional for private players
These fresh measures, that still go without a release date, are applied by default to official servers, but if players want to get involved in their private games designed for closed co-op, the anti-cheat methods will be entirely optional. So, in a strange turn that defies the outward battle against cheating from Pocket Pair, they seem to be fine with you doing it in your own local games.
It’s a shocking twist, but frankly, it’s pretty nice to know that even with Pocket Pair’s stance being made pretty clear, they’re giving you the chance to defy them a little bit. Be naughty, but behind closed doors.
