Super Smash Bros is celebrating its 25th anniversary next month and a leaker has reported that Nintendo intends to celebrate the occasion.
While we do not know what this celebration could entail so the leaker has suggested a few ideas that he thinks we may see released to celebrate.
Nintendo will reportedly be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Super Smash Bros.
Almost every update we have received about Smash Bros so far has suggested that there is not going to be a new game on the way for quite a long time.
That isn’t to say that there won’t be anything coming from Super Smash Bros in the foreseeable future however, as Nintendo are seemingly planning to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise.
Popular leaker and insider Zippo wrote in a recent blog post: “As you fine folks no doubt know, a certain humongous franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary in about a month and a half. Nintendo are apparently planning, and to quote the sources here, ‘Announcements, celebrations and events to commemorate the anniversary of Smash throughout the year.’
“The one thing that's already been ruled out is a new game. The next Smash Bros is something that's been planned in some way right now, but that's not gonna be for a bit.“
Amongst Zippo's suggestions for celebrations were ideas such as a Smash Bros. Concert Series, a Nintendo Switch Online Release of Smash 64, and potentially game remasters.
Smash Bros Ultimate also celebrated its 5th anniversary earlier this week, and new spirits were added to the game in celebration.
Smash Ultimate is the best selling fighting game of all time with over 32 million units sold, so it is no surprise that players were thrilled to see new content added.
While we don't know exactly what Nintendo has planned for the 25th anniversary of Super Smash Bros, it is definitely a milestone that deserves some attention.
We can only hope that whatever they do will help fill the gap while we wait for any future game instalments that may be on the way.
