In Konami we trust. After a period of abandoning its legacy IPs of Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and Castlevania in favour of eFootball, it looks like Konami is back in a big way (unless you're a Castlevania fan). We can barely keep track of how many new Silent Hill games are coming, while Metal Gear also promises to keep us fed.
Alongside hopes of a Master Collection 2, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is remaking 2004's stealth legend for a whole new generation. Although the fifth game in the Metal Gear franchise, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the first chronologically and makes perfect sense to get the remake treatment.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is hiding its release date
We got our first glimpse at Metal Gear Solid Delta via an in-engine gameplay trailer at Microsoft's Xbox Partner Preview digital presentation in October 2023, but it wasn't until June 9's Xbox Games Showcase that we got a full look at the much-hyped remake. Our second trailer is here, and it's packing a punch.
This trailer focuses on the first mission, where Naked Snake (soon to be Big Boss) goes to retrieve Sokolov. There's also Snake's first encounter with Ocelot, a look at Cobra Unit, and a spruced-up version of fan-favourite EVA to round things out. Fans agree Metal Gear Solid Delta looks worthy of a new-gen remake, but there's one big problem.
While the second trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater threatens to blow up the internet, everyone in the replies is asking the same question. Namely, where the hell is the release date? One worried fan wrote, "I'm on my knees for a release date like please the game looks so good, I hope it’s not late 2025. Praying for a surprise 2024 release date (coping)."
Another added, "How many more trailer do we need before they announce the release date!?" and a third said, "I am so mad that there's still no release date yet. What the f**k Konmami, you said 2024." The latest Metal Gear Solid Delta trailer explains why the game was MIA from the recent Sony State of Play, but with time running out on 2024, we're fearing the worst when it comes to its release window.
As far as we're aware, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Easter is still due for release in 2024 and is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series - with confirmed PS5 Pro support. 2025 is packed with everything from Death Stranding 2 to GTA 6, so if Konami was wise, it would make sure Snake Eater is sweeping up this Christmas.
