Sledgehammer Games has so far cooked with Modern Warfare 3. Admittedly, the nostalgia from MW2's map pool got the title off to a bit of a cheating head start, but since then, the original multiplayer content has been a hoot.

One thing that the studio hasn't really done is dip into its own archives, as only a select few Advanced Warfare features and one Vanguard map have been remastered.

But with Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 Reloaded, it looks like Sledgehammer has opened up its hivemind to what has been successful in the past. One classic map appears to be a major influence on what is about to drop.

Modern Warfare 3 reveals its latest map, Grime

Grime is set to release as one of two maps in Season 3 reloaded, in which we will be skirted off to the UK again. Thankfully, not like Piccadilly (MW2019), but rather in a grunge part of the London suburbs.

The map looks like quite a medium-sized layout, as the Kortac and Specgru Operators will be fighting right under the nose of the Met Police on a warehouse dock.

Typical grafitti decorates the walls of every nook and cranny, while the central buildings are flanked by a small port, much like Greece's outskirts. This element is already being compared to a great WWII map.

MW3's Grime instantly gets compared to London Docks

Given the setting, this comparison was quite obvious, but the layout and water elements have pushed the resemblance even further, as players are seeing shades of WWII's London Docks in Grime.

London Docks was the standout map in a menial multiplayer experience for WWII, and fans have called for its remastering multiple times.

This isn't a remaster, but fans hope that the ghost of London Docks will rub off on Grime as more multiplayer maps flourish. Grime and the smaller map Checkpoint will both arrive in Season 3 Reloaded on May 1.
