MW2 players flame throwback audio pack bundle with OG sounds

The promise of having OG Modern Warfare 2 gun sounds was a complete folly, and now players have begun to label the throwback audio pack as 'out of touch.'

We're all still waiting on this nostalgic injection that was promised with Modern Warfare 2. The sequel in the rebooted series was hyped up to relive the golden days of Call of Duty, with maps, modes, and weapons all deriving from the 2009 title that we loved in our childhoods.

Sadly, none of that has been delivered by the devs, and now Infinity Ward's feeble attempt at bringing in nostalgia has been slammed for being yet another cheap cash-in on our love of the past.

MW2 slam the 'Throwback Audio Pack'

Activision itself has now revealed that the iconic MW2 (2009) sounds will only apply to two guns in the bundle, one of which is an unnamed Assault Rifle (potentially either the Hemlock, given it was branded as the ACR, or the TAQ-56 with its Scar-like qualities) and the Lachmann Sub.

The blueprints, named "Good Ol' Days" and "Lachmann Classic" also come with a "Classic Soap" skin, but fans are furious that there aren't more weapons included, as the original teaser implied that the sound pack would be for all guns and equipment.

"I don't understand how they can be so incompetent as to miss on such an absolute slam dunk like classic sounds for all the weapons," one fan said in the Reddit thread.

MW2's Throwback pack doesn't even include the Intervention

Having brought the Intervention (FJX Imperium) into play for Modern Warfare 2 Season 3, most fans assumed that the Throwback Audio Pack would have, at the very least, contained the iconic sniper.

Others pointed out that they could also have used the Deagle (.50 GS or this new automatic variant coming in Season 3 Reloaded). "Infinity Ward is so out of touch," said a fan in another thread.

"They could've easily made bank on reintroducing a whole suite of OG sounds, like f**k, the Intervention (most iconic weapon in all of CoD) can't even get the sound?" added another.

Players now think that the developers are holding back the Intervention and Deagle combination to fleece out another like-minded bundle, getting double the sales for something that could have been put together.
