While Mortal Kombat's Kameo characters have done wonders for keeping eyes on the games after their launch, it doesn't look like NetherRealm is going to be any different when it comes to Mortal Kombat 1.

As it seems that the Kameo appearances for the game have been in the public knowledge practically since the fighter came out, fans have been itching to get their hands on the new characters.

The celebrity roster includes Invincible's Omni-Man and John Cena's Peacemaker - but fans have just been dealt a brutal detail about the character who is ultimately the headliner of this round of Kameos.

Mortal Kombat 1's Homelander isn't played by Antony Starr

Mortal Kombat 1 fans are feeling let down, as Antony Starr has confirmed that he won't be reprising his role as Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1. For those who don't know, Starr plays a live-action Homelander in The Boys and Gen V, as well as the animated version in The Boys Presents: Diabolical.

The news has come directly from the man himself, who made an innocuous post on Instagram to be met with a wealth of The Boys viewers asking him questions about his appearances. One fan asks if he'll be voicing the appearance of Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, and he gives fans an answer - though not the one they wanted.

Nope,” he says. Well, that settles that then. It's pretty surprising news, and fans aren't exactly thrilled that Starr won’t be portraying The Boys baddie again, especially as his performance as the character is truly iconic.

Fans react to Antony Starr not appearing in Mortal Kombat 1

Homeland, arms outstretched, in The Boys.

"My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined,” says one Reddit user in the comments of a screenshot of the simple answer. "Not to be dramatic, but this is the most devastating one-word answer in human history," adds another.

It's clear that fans are upset, but it seems as though it could be a mere scheduling issue. There's currently no word on who will be taking over from Starr as Mortal Kombat 1's Homelander. Still, at least we still have the legendary J.K. Simmons returning as Omni-Man. Now, that’s a voice that can't be replaced.
