The Call of Duty microtransaction game is back to its full strength, with Halloween collabs and hip-hop sensations all darting around the trenches of Al Mazrah with fully loaded comic-book guns and diamond-pinned RPGs.

But Activision isn't putting a ceiling on how far they can go in terms of customisation, and now they've decided to elevate the game even further.

Operator skins and weapon camos are not the limit, as Modern Warfare 3 is rolling out customisable bullets.

Modern Warfare 3 will have custom bullet skins

Shortly after introducing "shameless" grenade skins, Modern Warfare 3 players found bullet skins in the Beta.

OpTic and Team SummerTime content creator Davis "Hitchariide" Edwards found that under the "ammunition" section of the MW3 Gunsmith, players could equip skins to the bullets, which would change the colour of the shell.

These will likely work differently from tracers, for example, and rather serve simply as a cosmetic, available to be seen in weapon animations and other cut-screen clips.

How to unlock Modern Warfare 3 bullet skins

From Hitch's small clip of the bullet skins, it appears that these will be available as a result of in-store purchases at first.

Hitch had two types of bullet skin available, with one white and red-tipped case, and the other silver and blue-tipped; these represent the two sides of the Vault Edition Nemesis skins, which will see Ghost and Captain Price don the blue of Task Force 141 while Makarov and Warden will sport the evil red of the antagonists.

The Nemesis range also includes reactive suits, so it's still unsure as to whether the bullets will also become reactive in some form.

It's likely that more bullet skins will come with other bundles and even battle passes in the future, but upon launch, there will only be two available, both exclusive to the Vault Edition owners.
