The DLCs will soon be back, and in greater numbers. Just when you think Minecraft has given us all it can, Moajng's blocky builder is here to surprise. While we've seen the various fan creations like Minecraft Middle Earth and WesterosCraft, it's time for an official collaboration.

As well as holding up its own titles like the Knights of the Old Republic and Battlefront series, the galaxy far, far away has had many crossovers with other video games. After appearing in everything from Fortnite to Rocket League, it's time to hear the whoosh of our lightsabers in Minecraft.

Minecraft is getting a Star Wars crossover

Mojang's annual Minecraft livestream gave us a roadmap of new content coming before we get the massive 1.21 update. This includes a new Star Wars DLC. StarWars.com gave us a deeper dive into what's going on in the cosmos, with the Minecraft DLC titled Star Wars: Path of the Jedi available from November 7

Saying, "It's time to explore a blocktastic galaxy," an announcement video shows off a new adventure that looks like it's set during the prequel era around the time of the divisive Attack of the Clones. With Mace Windu, Yoda, and a likeness of Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi, all your faves are here.

The release goes on to explain you'll play as a new Jedi Padawan, with the ability to customise your own droid to accompany you during this time of conflict. There's also the chance to build your own lightsaber and visit famous locales ranging from Coruscant to Kamino.

As the trailer suggests, Path of the Jedi sees you cross paths with Jedi legends, as well as villains like General Grievous. If you're already sold, you'll need the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft and get ready to play Path of the Jedi. If you head to the Dressing Room, there's a free R2-D2 shirt until December 7.

Minecraft is still going strong

Despite being released back in 2009, Minecraft is showing no sign of fatigue. It's sold over 300 million copies to become the best-selling game of all time - putting it over 100 million ahead of GTA V in second place.

Keen to keep the game evolving, Mojang has a tie-in with the BBC's upcoming Planet Earth 3, which promises to "immerse players in the wonders of the natural world". That's due in the Minecraft Marketplace at some point in 2024.

Finally, "mid-2024" includes a new Minecraft Vanilla update that's dubbed 1.21. The Crafter introduces automated crafting to Minecraft, while Trial Chambers give players a new challenge, alongside a new mob called The Breeze. At a time when most games have long been sent to the pixelated graveyard, Minecraft doesn't sound like it's going anywhere.
