We're lighting up the Bat-Signal in Minecraft, as the blocky builder is squeezing into spandex for a Batman-themed DLC. We've seen crossovers with everything from Adventure Time to Toy Story, but now, the Batmobile is firing up its engines.

Batman is everywhere in the world of video games, and if we're not mourning his death in Gotham Knights, we're enjoying the various crossover skins in Fortnite. We've come a long way from abysmal gaming lows like the N64's Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker, and now, Minecraft is cashing in on the Caped Crusader.

What Is The Minecraft Batman DLC?

Earlier this year, we saw Bikini Bottom recreated in a SpongeBob SquarePants pack, but now, we're getting the crime-riddled streets of Gotham City. The Minecraft Live 2022 broadcast gave us a couple of interesting titbits, and alongside an update on Minecraft Legends, there was the reveal of the Batman DLC.

A big takeaway was DC Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee announcing the Minecraft Batman DLC coming on October 18. The crossover will task players with using "Batman's gadgets to explore Gotham and take on villains like Harley Quinn, Penguin and more as you unravel Joker's nefarious plot."

We got a brief trailer that shows off the Batcave, while other iconic locations like the GCPD also appear. Most impressively, the trailer implies you'll be able to drive the iconic Batmobile around the Minecraft map. To celebrate the release of the DLC, you can get a free Batman cap in the Minecraft dressing room right now.

How Much Will The Minecraft Batman DLC Cost?

There's no official price for the Batman DLC, but given that the SpongeBob one was $10, we imagine it'll be around the same. It seems like an unusual time to release a Batman pack at a time most games are rolling out their Halloween content. Still, we're not going to complain.

If we've got a DC crossover with Minecraft, we're also wondering how long it will be until we balance the scales with a Marvel DLC. Although Minecraft could be exclusively tied to DC, remember that Fortnite has honoured both comic book rivals in the past. In the meantime, have fun playing with that blocky bat.
