The Steam Deck boasted its incredible library on launch, but as it turned out, there were a few outliers that left buyers deflated.

The vast majority of games on the Steam platform, especially its AAA titles, were available on the handheld PC on day dot, and it immediately proved the power and flexibility of the console.

Some games simply weren't optimised, leaving fans of games including The Sims and Return to Monkey Island a little left in the cold when they finally got their hands on the Steam Deck.

Thankfully, new waves of games have been optimised for the little engine, meaning some true classics have finally made it to the Steam Deck.

Mass Effect And Battlefield Are Finally On The Steam Deck

Mass Effect

EA and the Steam Deck haven't been particularly compatible for some time, but it looks like the tide is turning. New additions to the "playable" list on the handheld console include games from the Mass Effect, Need for Speed and Battlefield franchises.

Gaming on Linux was the first to flag the latest additions, revealing that among the new titles added to the Steam Deck are many that were once inaccessible. This was due to the EA app struggling to work on the console.

It's a fantastic revelation, and thankfully, it means that the Steam Deck has a wealth of new games to play, as well as the hope that new additions to the EA app will be easier to access at launch. Star Wars: Jedi - Survivor on the Steam Deck, anyone?

Which EA Games Are Now Available On Steam Deck?

Thankfully, Gaming on Linux has compiled a list of all the games now marked as Playable on the Steam Deck following the changes to the EA app.

The new games that work on the handheld are as follows:

  • A Way Out
  • Battlefield 4
  • Battlefield V
  • It Takes Two
  • Madden NFL 21
  • Madden NFL 22
  • Madden NFL 23
  • Mass Effect: Andromeda Deluxe Edition
  • Mass Effect Legendary Edition

  • Need for Speed Heat
  • Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered
  • Need for Speed Most Wanted
  • Need for Speed Rivals
  • Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2: Deluxe Edition

There are some absolute bangers buried in here (as we'll defend Mirror's Edge: Catalyst until the day we die), and for them to all be available on the Steam Deck is a relief we can't express. Get downloading, gamers.
