The gaming and streaming industry is no stranger to both sides of the cryptocurrency coin. Whether it be the Reddit community prevailing over Wall Street suits in the GameStop revolution, or popular streamers getting caught manipulating the market and charities, the relationship has seen positives and negatives.

Now, one of the most successful people to emerge from the industry has felt the crypto crunch, as former FIFA streamer-turned-Sidemen enthusiast, award-winning music artist, and amateur boxer JJ "KSI" Olatunji has been caught up in the Terra Luna collapse.

LUNA, a cryptocurrency that previously sat in the top 10 most valuable currencies throughout April, has plummeted from $120 per share to just $1 on May 11, which led to many people losing huge amounts of investments, including KSI. The internet personality confirmed that the crash cost him $2.8 million.

KSI Loses $2.8 Million In Luna Cryptocurrency Collapse

KSI, whose net worth is estimated to be north of $25 million due to success in the boxing ring and the music charts, has his own crypto Twitter page, where he detailed the massive loss.

As LUNA began to dip, KSI decided to grab 100,000 shares, saying that he is "sticking it in a wallet and gonna see what happens in a few years". Adding that it "could be the best/worst trade of my life".

Just one day later, the LUNA currency completely collapsed, and his $2.8 million was worth just $1,000.

Taking to his normal account, KSI wrote, "What a week. I went to my hamster's funeral, performed in front of thousands of people at Wembley Arena with Anne Marie, [and] my 3 million dollars worth of Luna is now worth a few $100. And it’s only Thursday."

KSI Vows He's 'Happier Than Ever' Despite $2.8 Million Loss

Despite the huge losses, KSI has claimed that he's happier than ever. Recently in a podcast with Boxing opponent Logan Paul, the streamer detailed how he "struggles to find joy" in chasing fame and success, saying that he wouldn't mind trading his life now for a "normal" nine-to-five job, where he can enjoy taking a dog for a walk or going on holiday properly.

However, the cryptocurrency loss has seemingly sparked some reflection in KSI, as he took to social media to say that despite the financial hit, he's "happier than ever".

"Before crypto, money was a driving force in my mindset," he said. "However now I'm finally at peace with myself. I just put 2.8 million in that Luna buy and it’s worth less than 50k. But that’s ok because I’m not dead. I’ve got my family, my friends and my vigorous work ethic haha."

Of course, the cryptocurrency crash has impacted more people than just KSI, with some claiming that they'd stored life savings in the currency, in the hope of gaining more interest than if they'd stashed it into a bank account.

For KSI, he's now admitted that he's "out" of crypto, and will hopefully now continue to work on creative content.
