Despite the Marvel Cinematic Universe falling off a bit with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania - and criticisms of superhero fatigue - landing a part in the franchise is still the hottest ticket in Tinsel Town. But, is Killing Eve's Jodie Comer set to join the MCU?

While we were used to four phases of Downey Jr., Hemsworth, and Evans, there aren't many of the old crowd around these days. As MCU overlord Kevin Feige looks to the future of the world's highest-grossing franchise, there are exciting times ahead with the arrival of the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

We've had a slow build of Charles Xavier's team thanks to reveals that Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's Namor (Tenoch Huerta) are mutants, while the Fantastic Four was (sort of) teased via John Krasinski appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Is Jodie Comer playing Sue Storm in the MCU?

Up there with who'll take over from Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman to play Professor X and Wolverine, the casting of the Fantastic Four is a big one. Krasinski might've played Reed Richards in the official MCU canon, but as this was set in the alternate Earth-838, he's not confirmed for Matt Shakman's movie.

Although Comer's breakout role came long before, it's playing Killing Eve's sadistic Villanelle that made her the talk of the town. In September 2022, YouTube pundit John Campea said he'd heard "little pieces of whispering" about Comer playing Sue Storm, but now, the woman herself has debunked it.

Speaking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Comer reiterated she's not in the running to play the Invisible Woman. When asked if she's familiar with the character, Comer joked, "I am now, after the last year."

Clearing up the confusion, she added, "No, guys, I don't know anything about it. I feel like when I say this people are like, 'Okay…' It’s like, you can’t win either way."

Adding that she'll "never say never," Comer implied she doesn't want to commit to a multi-movie role like Storm would involve: "As I said before, like usually when you finish one project, you then want to try something very different, so I don't know, maybe."

Are John Krasinski and Emily Blunt part of the MCU's Fantastic Four?

With Comer seemingly out (unless she's an even better actor than we know), the talk will undoubtedly shift back to Emily Blunt. As the real-life wife of Krasinski, there's been a lot of chatter that the A Quiet Place duo could reunite for Fantastic Four

Speaking to Extra in November, Blunt said, "Well, I know nothing! I never know how to answer these questions… No one has approached me about the Invisible Woman so we'll just leave it as that." Then again, she would say that, wouldn't she?

You've likely seen those fan casting posters that pair Krasinski and Blunt with Zac Efron as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Vin Diesel as Ben Grimm/the Thing, but in reality, we don't even know Fantastic Four has started casting.

Following the departure of Spider-Man: No Way Home's Jon Watts and a shifted release date back to February 2025, we imagine casting is the least of Fantastic Four's worries right now. Whether Blunt, Comer, or someone else entirely, whoever is playing Sue Storm had better settle in for the long run.
