It's a gaming collection that's been 65 million years in the making, well, not quite. If you're a Jurassic Park fan, you'll undoubtedly know 2023 marks 30 years since we were chased by raptors in the kitchen, meaning it's an all-out celebration of that doomed theme park.
Turning Michael Crichton's 1990 novel into a cinematic masterpiece, Jurassic Park is up there with Spielberg greats like E.T., Indiana Jones, and Schindler's List. It's a lasting legacy that's spun out into a franchise of six movies, numerous video games, and even theme parks.
What is The Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary Retro Collection
To honour Jurassic Park's movie milestone, Limited Run Games has announced The Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary Retro Collection for 2023 - hold onto your butts. Details are thin on the ground, but we're told to look out for the annual LRG3 presentation in June.
It's unclear whether these classics will be re-released on their original systems or be ported to modern consoles like the Nintendo Switch. The announcement includes a cryptic tease of the NES, Game Boy and Super Nintendo era of JP games, so at least we (roughly) know which ones will be included.
On the starting blocks, we have the original Jurassic Park game from 1993 in various forms, as well as 1995's Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues. As noted by ComicBook.com, the image doesn't include the SEGA Genesis or Game Gear versions.
As these were published by SEGA instead of Ocean Software handling the Nintendo versions, it might stop LRG from re-releasing. Others are concerned that there could be a big wait for the release, as LRG has a notoriously long production time.

There's some confusion on the announcement, with one fan writing, "It's also getting put on modern consoles too and not just a reprint of sega genesis and snes cartridges right?" It's clear fans want the SEGA versions, with someone adding, "Kinda missing the titles released on Sega consoles...."
A third said, "Love being able to play as Grant or the Raptor in the best version of this on Seg... wait that one isn't there??? That's the only one I even hear people bring up these days regularly." A fourth concluded, "The Genesis version of Jurassic Park needs to be here, it's the vastly superior version!"
We'll take what we can in terms of retro gaming, and while LRG is a master of its craft, we'll be pretty p*ssed if we don't get to play SEGA's Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition from 1994. As Dr. Ian Malcolm would say, "Life, uh, finds a way."
