Respawn Entertainment and Apex Legends have had a bit of an issue when it comes to balancing legends, often missing the mark between witty and completely overpowered.

Case in point is Crypto, whose Season 22 kit is leaving even the best players in the world completely dumbfounded. The new changes to his abilities render him completely invisible, and even reigning world champion Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen has been left baffled while the rest of the community calls for nerfs.

ImperialHal stunned by new Crypto cloak of invisibility

ImperialHal is normally the first to the plate when it comes to batting for fun legends, previously slamming the "boring ass characters" that the game has in Season 21.

But, in a recent Ranked match, Hal was left stunned as he thought he had run into an invisible wall. Seconds later, he figured out that it was actually Crypto who, like wee Harry on the way down to Hagrid's hut, was completely shrouded by the invisibility cloak.

Hal took about 15 seconds to realise that the "invisible wall" was actually an enemy Crypto, before bursting into hysterics and slamming the ridiculous altercation.

Apex Legends community rally for Crypto nerfs

Crypto's invisibility has completely put Mirage to shame, as the lack of movement while operating the drone means that you scarcely the outline of his character - all you may be able to see is the controller, albeit translucently.

Taking to Reddit, players have already come for Crypto's throat, as comments on a recent thread have called for an immediate nerf. "I fail to understand how Respawn thought this was a good idea," said one player.

Another added, "Giving a hero in this game full invisibility is ridiculous, ngl. What did they think would happen in the game where ratting was already a significant problem?"

Ratting seems to be the big problem, as players have already been using Crypto to stay invisible all game and search from placements, rather than actually playing the game.

It's a shame, as more characters do need creative kits, but this first attempt to break the wall down from Respawn has only seen their hammer rebound straight back in its face.
