Horizon Forbidden West Skills: The Destroyer
The Destroyer is a skill near the end of the Warrior tree. This Devil May Cry-esque melee combo has the player pause after their first attack, before launching into a flurry of rapid strikes. This combo will tear strips (literally) off of enemies, and is one of the best ways to win a spear fight.

Horizon Forbidden West Skills: Quick Trapper
Traps are extremely useful in Horizon Forbidden West. They are an excellent way to take down the bigger machines in the game, especially when using the corresponding elemental damage. However, placing traps can be a long and risky process. Early on, using traps may not seem worthwhile. However, with both levels of Quick Trapper unlocked, placing traps takes literally one second. This skill is essential for effective trap use.

Horizon Forbidden West Skills: Triple Notch
Triple Notch is a weapon technique skill for Hunter Bows. With this skill unlocked, you can fire up to three arrows at once with your Hunter Bow. Press R1 to notch up to three arrows on your bow, and fire at all of them at once for a huge damage boost. This is just plain fun, and a great way to take down your enemies even faster.

Horizon Forbidden West Skills: Plant Forager
Plant Forager is a super important skill to get in Horizon Forbidden West. Your main source of healing in the game is from gathering medicinal plants in the wild. Throughout many of your battles, you will need to heal, and in tougher fights, it isn’t uncommon to run out. This often leaves players scrambling to find any nearby healing items.
With the plant forager skill, plants provide two healing items instead of one. In general, this is really useful for filling your healing pouch quickly and can be lifesaving in a tight spot.

Horizon Forbidden West Skills: Braced Shot
Braced Shot is a weapon technique in the Infiltrator tree and a particularly devastating ability. This skill is for Sharpshot Bows. Using it has Aloy charge up a huge shot that does massive damage and explodes on impact. This attack can put a serious dent in a machine, it is a great way to bring down the tougher enemies in the game.

Horizon Forbidden West Skills: Override Subroutines
Override Subroutines is one of the most useful skills in the Machine Master skill tree. This skill allows you to actively alter the behaviour of machines as you override them. While overriding a machine, you can choose to either make the machine more aggressive or more defensive. This is an ideal skill for people who like to have machines fight for them, and want more control over their mechanical thralls.
Those are six Horizon Forbidden West skills we highly recommend from across the six skill trees. For more tips on the game, check out Horizon Forbidden West Hunting Grounds.
