Helldivers 2's new Quasar Cannon makes light work of Automatons

Helldivers 2 fans love the brand-new Quasar Cannon that is laying the Automaton menace to waste - and they think a new meta has arrived.

Arrowhead Game Studios has been trying to keep the Helldivers 2 meta in check because if players get too powerful, the democracy they've been spreading to every corner of the cosmos may become too potent.

The game doesn't have too many weapons overall, and in many ways, it's been a good thing. There's a unifying power in players flocking to a generic type of weapon, and separating them from Call of Duty, it has made the most basic items incredibly powerful vessels of excitement.

Since the Railgun was hit with a huge nerf, wannabe Helldivers have been looking at their arsenals as though they were flimsy. Thankfully, we've got a new toy to play with, and frankly, it's a bit of a beast.

Good grief, now that’s what we call a gun. Helldivers 2's community has been wowed by the game's most recent armoury addition, a Quasar Cannon that doesn't demand heat sinks and can seriously lay waste to some big foes.

The LAS-99 Quasar Cannon is unlocked by players at level 18. It offers the chance to send out some serious beams while also allowing players to cool it off when still on the move, all without demanding a backpack to use it.

Players need to consider exactly what they're doing with the weapon, as it has a pretty hefty three-to-four-second charging time. But when it fires off, the Quasar Cannon does huge damage and can dish out some democracy from a dramatic distance.

Fighters have grown enamoured with the new weapon, taking to the comments of a new video on Reddit showcasing its huge power to share the love. Being able to one-shot Automaton dropship is quite an achievement, with the top comment saying, "Such a democratic weapon it makes me cry."

"Rips armor, breaks fabricators, no backpack at the cost of no crowd control and a super slow fire rate, This weapon is beautiful," says one user, while another remarks that the gun is "Maximum democracy at one's fingertips."

Another fan is concerned, adding, "Something is telling me that a very powerful from the enemy factions is coming if we are being given such wonderful toys." Given the ease with which the Quasar Cannon can pulp a Bile Titan, we're also worried. Either way, the LAS-99 is going to make a fine addition to the battle for democracy. Railgun? We don’t know her.
