Helldivers 2 is proving to be quite a fantastic alternative to the competitive shooter games that tend to dominate playtime across the world, allowing for endless hours of alien blasting rather than coming up against bunny-hopping sweats.
It's quite fun getting a launcher and spreading green guts all over stunning planets. Boom!
And it looks like Helldivers 2 fans want the franchise to stay completely separate from other games in the genre, despite a minority of players wanting more Call of Duty-like features.
Helldivers 2 fans revolt after one player asks for suit skins
One Helldivers 2 fan has taken to the game's Subreddit to ask for "suit" armours, which would pit the armoured protagonists in tuxedos, like something out of James Bond.
But these wacky looks are more synonymous with Fortnite's John Wick and more recently Call of Duty which often dresses up its characters in shiny shoes and pleated pants instead of helmets and bulletproof breastplates.
"It would not be cool," was the statement from most players though, who have rallied together to shut down any notion of Call-of-Duty-ism in Helldivers 2.
"It would pave the way for some Call of Duty BS like playing as Nicki Minaj," one fan said.
Although the poster argued a bow and tie is far from pink latex, another fan added, "If you can name one single game where 'one goofy cosmetic' didn’t eventually snowball into an absolute dogs**t show I’d love to hear it.
"Siege, Call of Duty, The Division, every game I’ve ever seen where they let some goofy stuff in it always becomes the entire identity of the game."
Instead, Helldivers 2 players seem pretty content with being "mildly military but still military," and that any wacky crossovers or "goofy" skins should stay in Hideo Kojima's notepad or CoD's think tank.
