Those wannabe Helldivers are still going strong, and it's hard to blame them. Players have been loving Helldivers 2 since it launched, and especially now that server issues have been resolved and Tien Kwan has been liberated to bring the long-awaited mechs to the battle.
The immersion of fighting like hell to earn new features is pretty brilliant, and it serves as a nice touch that drags players into the fight for galaxy-wide democracy, but recent nerfs have made that fight just a little bit tougher. Now, it looks like players are growing suspicious.
Helldivers fans think enemy spawn rates are way up
Though the fight is generally tougher right now anyway, fans have more suspicions - namely, that the spawn rates for the biggest bads in the galaxy have gone up without letting fighters know about it.
A collection of posts has hit Reddit, theorising that Helldivers are being subjected to more foes than usual. It's especially in the Hell Dive mode, which has seen a spotlight in a new video where one fighter is expected to fight far more Bile Titans than they should be able to.
The video is compelling evidence, as the one player is subject to a spanking from Bile Titans that they simply couldn't have defended themselves against. It's easy from here to presume that the problem is spawn rates, but someone else has a theory that could explain why players are suffering.
Helldivers 2 player has a theory for its new difficulty
"Through my experience, I have concluded that in this new patch, dev has left out the most important part of the patch which is enemy AI and spawn rate," shares user mirage2154 in the Helldivers subreddit, making sense of the latest update to the game.
"And I honestly believe that the massive post explaining their reasoning about the buff and nerf is missing the point. The biggest effect of the patch is not the weapon but no matter what weapon strategem you use, you won't be able to clear the enemy in front of you. This is essentially forcing players to adopt an entirely different playstyle that they have been having fun with for weeks!
"I know I am being an ass here, but somehow I felt like Dev are enjoying seeing me running like a headless chicken and seeing my teammate dying left and right," they continue. "Also just double the enemy spawn and aggression level and detection rage problem solved and I am the brainless here?"
Players aren't sure if the user is right, and this is causing a lot of confusion in the game's community. Would Arrowhead Game Studios attempt to uproot the playstyle that made Helldivers fun for so many in the name of true balance, or has the number of foe spawns just shot up? It's hard to tell, but something needs to change.
