Will they, won't they? The question on everyone's lips is when Rockstar Games will finally give us a peek beneath the hood of the next Grand Theft Auto. The GTA 6 announcement tweet broke the internet in 2022, so we dread to think what will happen when we finally get a reveal trailer.

With it being a decade since GTA V was released, it's safe to say Rockstar is playing the long game with GTA 6, likely realising that the next automotive adventure will pretty much market itself. Still, there's an angry mob of baying fans demanding some sort of reveal, with a swirling vortex of rumours claiming one is just around the corner.

GTA 6 announcement fuelled by Metacritic

We've covered the rumours that Rockstar is gearing up for a GTA 6 announcement in the final few days of October, and while we're running out of time, Metacritic has thrown fuel on the fire in an unorthodox way. GTA fans have noticed that there's now a Metacritic page for GTA 6, suggesting we're on the cusp of a reveal.

Although the GTA 6 Metacritic page is confirmed as the real deal, there's not much to go on. There's a generic GTA logo and confirmation that it's coming to Xbox and PS5, but we already knew that. Still, hopeful gamers think this is queuing up the imminent drop of the long-awaited GTA 6 trailer.

If that wasn't enough, PCGamesN noted that GTA V voice actor Ned Luke posted a cryptic video the same day. The voice behind Michael De Santa said he was heading to L.A. and cryptically added, "Got some stuff to do. Don’t ask what it is." He also tagged Franklin voice actor, Shawn Fonteno.

Don't believe the GTA 6 hype

Unfortunately, we're adrift in a sea of GTA rumours without much to go on apart from the typical "trust me bro." Supposed leakers have their accounts suspended every day, but for each @GTA6leaksofficial that is kicked, another two pop up in its place.

Basically, it's best to set our expectations low so we're not disappointed. Much like the repeated "leaks" about Bloodborne 2, and the fact that it continues to trend without being given the official nod, you're best to wait until Rockstar gives us something to go on.

As the Metacritic page went live on October 25, it fits with the rumbles we're getting a treat in time for Halloween. The Luke and Fonteno tease also has us stumped, but for all we know, it'll be a cheap Halloween cash-in for GTA Online. Knowing our luck, Rockstar will probably drop the GTA 6 announcement trailer on a random Sunday afternoon.
